Georgia College & State University offers our students state-of-the-art performance facilities at several locations across campus. The various performances, courses and learning opportunities take place throughout the year at these locations.
Russell Auditorium
Russell Auditorium is the main performance space for music and theatre productions. In summer 2020 it underwent extensive renovations to the lighting and rigging systems to bring this gorgeous historic building state of the art equipment. The auditorium seats up to 980 and has a 1,000 square foot stage, an orchestra pit, computerized lighting system, motorized fly system, and two dressing rooms.
Campus Black Box Theatre
The Campus Theatre in historic downtown Milledgeville (137 W. Hancock St.) underwent renovations in 2010 to provide retail space for Box Office Books and new academic and performance spaces for the theatre department, including a black box theatre with flexible seating, rehearsal and classroom space, a design lab and offices. The facilities allow students to perform in an arena setting while working with state of the art technology in light and sound.
Scene Shop
The Scene Shop is located on West Campus near the Wellness Center. Classes that meet here include Stagecraft, Advanced Stagecraft, and Scenic Painting. This 3000 sq/ft facility includes carpentry tools, saws, and a CNC router.
Costume Shop
Our Costume Shop gives us the ability to produce fabulous costumes for each production. The facility is outfitted with workspace, sewing and serging machines as well as laundry and dying equipment. It also includes our storage for our stock costumes. Located in Porter Hall #113.
